Dragons In The Wallowas
Racing Date: August 26-27, 2017

Event Venue

Race at One Of Oregon’s Spectacular 7 Wonders

Race in one of the most beautiful venues in the Pacific Northwest.  Wallowa Lake is positioned at the foot of the majestic Wallowa Mountain Range. The race will be held at the south end of Wallowa Lake and will take advantage of the facilities at the Wallowa Lake Marina  and the part of the day use areas of the Wallowa Lake State Park.  Wallowa Lake’s calm current-free waters will make for an excellent race venue.

The race committee, together with Wallowa State Park, has arranged for up to 100 paddlers to be allowed to camp for a nominal fee in the Riverside Day Use Area adjacent to the team’s staging area. Showers and bathrooms are available a short walking distance in the state park campgrounds.  Please contact the race committee at DRAGON IN THE WALLOWAS.COM

The State Park also has spaces in the official campground for over 200 RV and additional tent camping sites and full bathroom and shower facilities at the Wallowa State Park Campground.  For reservations outside the day use area, please make your reservations through the Oregon State Parks directly here.

Race Event Descriptions

The races will consist of four separate events, two held on Saturday and two held on Sunday.  Saturday’s races will be a traditional four-lane 250-meter race and a similar 50o-meter race. There will also be two timed practice races for the slalom on Saturday which will not count toward the overall race results.  Sunday will be a second four-lane 500-meter race, and the second race will feature one-lane course/slalom.  Each team will race head-to-head once on each course. The finish order for the serpentine will be determined by combined best time for both runs.

Event Awards

Medals are awarded to the top three finishing teams in each category. Medals will be awarded at the Sunday afternoon award ceremony at the beer garden.

The committee will award the “WALLOWA 7 WONDERS CUP TROPHY” to the best team overall times which will be determined by the best placements in all races in the events. Practice times will not be used to calculate the winner of the Dragons in the Wallowas “7 Wonders Cup.”   The trophy will be a seasonal all traveling trophy kept in the winning team’s possession until the next Dragons in the Wallowas Race.
